HAMILTON JOES  13  GRAND LAKE MARINERS  12 -  FINAL

FOUNDATION FIELD - The Hamilton Joes won a wild one at Foundation Field walking off the Grand Lake Mariners 13-12.

 

Miguel Correa (Central Michigan) scored the winning run for the Joes on a bunt single by pinch hitter Cody Miller (Lake Erie College) capping a wild last two innings.

 

The Joes (11-11), who had trailed 7-1 in the second inning, came all the way back taking a 12-8 lead after scoring five runs in the eighth inning.

 

Brett Denby (Wright State) gave Hamilton the lead with a bases clearing three-run triple. Travis Yankovich (Lake Erie College) scored on a wild pitch what was thought at the time to be an insurance run.

 

The Mariners answered in the top of the ninth inning scoring four runs without the benefit of a hit. 

 

After Hamilton walked the bases loaded, Isaac Sobieszczyk (Bradley University) and Ryker Hughes (University of Indianapolis) were each hit by a pitch in back-to-back plate appearances forcing runs home. Austyn Peak (Morehead State) was next up and he was walked with the bases still loaded making it a one-run game. Grand Lake tied game 12-12 when Sobieszczyk scored on a sacrifice fly by Chase Alwardt (University of Indianapolis).

 

The Mariners scored its 12 runs on the game needing just four hits to do so as Hamilton pitchers issued 11 walks and hit four batters.

 

Denby was the standout at the plate for the Joes going 4-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs.

 

The series moves to Celina on Wednesday as the team’s will play the rubber of the three-games series at Montgomery Field beginning at 6:35pm.

 

 

LIMA LOCOS  5  MUSKEGON CLIPPERS  4  -  FINAL/10 Innings 

MARSH FIELD - The Lima Locos won its seventh straight game defeating the Muskegon Clippers 5-4 in 10 innings at Marsh Field.

 

The Locos (15-6) has now won eight out of its last nine games as it boasts the best record in the GLSCL.

 

Lima had runners on the corners in the tenth inning when Cole Crafton (University of Louisville) delivered what turned out to be the game winner hit. Crafton’s single to right field drove in Braydon Kersey (Mercer University) from third base for the go ahead run.

 

Marion Creech (North Greenville transfer), who had given up the trying run in the bottom of the ninth, bounced back setting down the Clippers in the tenth securing the victory. Creech pitched the final three and 1/3 innings improving his record to 2-0 on the season.

 

Muskegon (8-14) tied the score 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Clippers were down to its final out when Ethan Delgado (Ecclesia College) kept them alive with a two-out double. Delgado scored the tying run on an RBI-single by Taylor Head (Chattanooga St Tech CC).

 

The Clippers led 3-2 going into the seventh inning when the Locos took its first lead of the game. David Falloon (Mercer University) tied the game with an RBI-single and Charlie Vercruysse (Purdue University commit) gave Lima the lead on run scoring base hit to left field. 

 

The Clippers offensive accumulated eight hits, four of which were doubles. The Locos conversely racked up 11 hits with 10 of them being singles.

 

The middle game of the series takes place at Marsh Field on Wednesday schedule for a 6:35pm start. 

 

 

XENIA SCOUTS  10  SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS  6  -  FINAL

BOB WREN STADIUM - The Xenia Scouts continue to roll tight along with a 10-6 victory over the Southern Ohio Copperheads at Bob Wren Stadium.

 

The Scouts (13-8), who have won seven out of its last nine games, remains atop of the GLSCL South Division standings.

 

Xenia scored eight of its 10 runs in the final three innings. The Scouts offense produced 15 hits including five of them by a pair of newcomers.

 

Jacob Souders and Mason Blasche, both from Samford University, each made their season debut. The newcomers arrival paid huge dividends. Souders went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Blasche was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

 

Bo Solley (Rollins College commit) chipped in with a three-run bases clearing double in the ninth inning.

 

Southern Ohio (8-13) offense was productive but left a lot on the table. The Copperheads came up with 13 hits but left 12 runners on base.

 

Jack Ferguson (Indiana Tech) was 3-for-5 with three doubles and three runs scored. Will Heisler (University of Akron) also had three hits going 3-for-4 with a double, a runs scored and three RBIs.

 

The middle game of the series moves to the Xenia Athletes in Action Sports Complex on Grady’s Field at Browne Stadium. First pitch is expected to take place at 7:05pm.

 

 

FLAG CITY SLUGGERS  8  MICHIGAN MONARCHS  5  -  FINAL  

HILLSDALE COLLEGE - The Flag City Sluggers continue its remarkable turnaround with an 8-5 road victory over the Michigan Monarchs at Hillsdale College.

 

The Sluggers (11-9) have now won four straight games and are 11-3 after an 0-6 start to the season. Flag City is currently in second place in the North Division standings.

 

The Monarchs (11-11) are on the opposite end of the spectrum falling into third place in the North after leading the division at one point during the season. Michigan has dropped four straight games and are 2-6 during its current skid.

 

The Sluggers jumped out to an early 6-1 lead before Michigan turned it into a tight game. The Monarchs scored three runs in the fourth inning making the score 6-4 in favor of Flag City.

 

Michigan cut the deficit to 6-5 in the sixth inning when Cole Van Ameyde (Michigan State University commit) scored on an RBI-double by Manny Gutierrez (Henry Ford CC).

 

That was all the closer the Monarchs would get as the Sluggers scored twice in the seventh inning on a two-single by Jaxon Brown (Bowling Green State).

 

Leo McEnulty (Purdue Fort Wayne) and Cooper Ashby (Redlands CC) combined to pitch the final two innings securing the Flag City victory. 

 

Caleb Smith (Three Rivers CC) had three hits and Harrison Engskov (Arkansas State transfer) scored three runs for the Sluggers.

 

The series continues on Wednesday at Hill Stadium and TFO Field with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
