BOSTON(May 24, 2017)- The Philadelphia Force of the United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) has announced the hiring of William & Mary Assistant Mike Bedford as the team's Head Coach.

“We are pleased to have MIke with us on staff and be an ambassador for our brand and athletes,” said UWLX CEO Digit Murphy. “At William & Mary Mike has been a great advocate for his athletes and has played in the men’s pro space.  He knows what it takes to help support and grow our young league..”

Coach Bedford has been with W&M for two seasons now, helping develop game strategy and serving as the primary goalkeeping coach. Prior to joining the staff, Coach Bedford spent two years as an assistant at Hofstra, helping lead the team to a 6-0 conference record, and conference title, in 2015. Mike also has professional playing experience with the Charlotte Copperheads and Chesapeake Bayhawks.

The Philadelphia Force will have a strong W&M connection this year, with the league's leading scorer from last season, and fellow W&M Assistant, Kara Mupo returning as an attacker. The team will look to improve their final standings with the change in coaching staff, as the team finished last in the regular season table last year.

The UWLX kicks off it’s second season on May 27th during NCAA Final Four Weekend, with two games being played in Attleboro. The league features some of the preeminent women’s lacrosse athletes with several current and former national team members, Tewaaraton Award finalists, and national champions.
