Long Island Stays Undefeated Heading into Playoffs

The Long Island Sound won their fourth straight game of the season on Saturday extending their record to 4-0. Although the game was much closer than the last time the two teams met, the Sound came out on top supported by a balanced offensive effort scoring 5 goals in each half.
Leading the way for Long Island was Sammy Jo Tracy with 3 goals, 1 assist, and 4 draw controls and Jill Byers who also scored 3 goals. Katrina Dowd chipped in with 3 assists. On defense, Caylee Waters had a solid showing in net saving ten shots while Tatum Coffey caused 2 turnovers.
Baltimore got off to a slow start, scoring only 3 goals in the first half. Karri Ellen Johnson scored the first two goals for the Ride as well as their final goal of the game. Amanda Johansen scored 2 goals for Baltimore while both Madison Cyr and Erica Bodt contributed two draw controls.
For the second week in a row, Baltimore was in a game determined by possession. Baltimore and Long Island each had 6 ground balls on the night coming from 6 and 5 different players respectively. However, Long Island found an advantage winning 9 draw controls to Baltimore’s 8 and turning the ball over 7 times to Baltimore’s 12. At different points throughout the game, both teams went over ten minutes without scoring.
After taking a few weeks off, both teams will head to Germantown, MD on July 7th. Long Island will take on Philadelphia at 5:00, followed by Baltimore against Boston at 7:00.
