BOSTON (May 10, 2017)- The United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) has announced the hiring of Abbey Capobianco as the Head Coach of the Boston Storm. Together with recently named General Manager Andrew Fink and a star-studded cast of new and returning players, Capobianco and the Storm are poised for another successful season after falling to the Long Island Sound in last summer’s inaugural UWLX’s championship.

Capobianco has a wealth of lacrosse knowledge as both a player and a coach. Currently working as the head coach at Assumption College, in just seven seasons with the Greyhounds Capobianco has become the winningest coach in Assumption women’s lacrosse history. A tremendous athlete that competed in lacrosse, soccer, and ice hockey at the Division I level, Capobianco is a true competitor that will inspire and lead the Storm and the world of professional women’s lacrosse to new heights. While playing at Massachusetts’ Framingham High School, as a senior Capobianco led the state in goals (117), was named an All-American, and brought Framingham to the state championship game. Capobianco’s collegiate playing career, which includes time with Central Connecticut State and UMass Amherst, saw her finish fifth in Central Connecticut women’s lacrosse history in career points (94) and third in career goals (78) after only two seasons. In addition to her work with Assumption, Capobianco also serves as the Director of College Recruiting for Laxachusetts.

"The Boston Storm is excited that Abbey Capobianco will join our organization as the team's head coach.  It was instantly clear to us that she is the right coach for our team as we enter our second season.  Abbey shares our enthusiasm for the game of lacrosse, desire to win a championship, and above all grow the game of women's lacrosse,” explained Andrew Fink. “Abbey has played Division I lacrosse at the highest level and as a college coach, she has demonstrated the ability to build a winning program.  We are fortunate to have a coach of her caliber on our sideline this season."

Capobianco will make her UWLX coaching debut Saturday May 27th when the Storm take on the Philadelphia Force at Attleboro High School. Support Capobianco and the Storm and get your season tickets today!
