During the UWLX offseason, we are asking a few questions of our players to give you a little bit more background on them. Next up, we have Long Island Sound midfield Shannon Gilroy.
Talk about the sense of pride you have in being one of the founding players and trailblazers of professional women’s lacrosse in the USA.
SG: They're no words for how I feel. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to help grow the game the only way I know how; playing.
In your lifetime, what has been your most memorable or all-time favorite lacrosse moment?
SG: My most memorable lacrosse moment in my lifetime has got to be my freshman year at Florida when we beat Northwestern at home.
If you had one message for young girls who are playing lacrosse, what would it be?
SG: My message to young girls is to get on a wall and have it be your best friend. Stick work is very important at a young age, no matter what position you play.
Make sure to catch Shannon and the rest of the world class players of the United Women's Lacrosse League when the UWLX plays its second season in the summer of 2017!
