Fort Wayne, IN – The Federals announce today that they have re-signed defensemen Joe Fiandaca for the 2014-2015 season. Fiandaca, a native of Chicago, returns to Fort Wayne for his third season in a Federals uniform after being named team captain last year. "I am very excited to be back in Fort Wayne this season," said Fiandaca who added "With Scott behind the bench and a lot of fresh faces, it should be a great year."
Over the past two seasons Fiandaca has skated in 82 games for the Federals recording 3 goals, 7 assists and 10 points with 128 total penalty minutes. Last season, he spent some time with the Brookings Blizzard of the NAHL after the Feds playoff exit. However, he did not appear in a game with the Blizzard. Prior to joining the Feds, Fiandaca played for the historic Mount Carmel High School program in Chicago. In three seasons at Mount Carmel, Fiandaca tallied 9 goals and 25 assists for 34 points and 136 penalty minutes. He also won a JV championship, an all star team selection and the player development award.
“What Joe brings to the table will not show up on the score sheet. However, it is a big part of what shows up in the win/loss column", said Assistant GM Chris Treft who added, “Joe is not only one of the best defensive defensemen at this level, he also brings a tremendous work ethic that is contagious around the rink. He leads by example and has a no excuses mentality, this is why he wore the “C” for us last season.”
The Federals organization welcomes back Fiandaca for what will without a doubt be another great season from Joe.
