Fort Wayne, IN - A veteran of three seasons in junior hockey, Jordan Smith was considering not playing his final season of junior eligibility and just going to college. Luckily for the Feds, he has decided to come back for his final year in junior hockey.
After several stints with teams in Danville, New Mexico and Southern Oregon, the Van Wert, OH native found a home last year in Fort Wayne, putting up 10 points in 32 games (6g 4a). In addition to putting up career highs in goals, assists and points the grinding forward scored his first career Hat Trick on December 15, 2013 vs. St. Louis. It was a nice reward for Smith, who is a player known for his huge heart and hustle on the ice.
"Smith is the type of player every good team needs on their roster", said Assistant GM Chris Treft. "He won't score that pretty goal or lead the team in points, but he is the one of the hardest working kids around and plays both ends of the ice". Smith's leadership will also help push the younger players who are new to junior hockey. Smith is excited to see what new Head Coach, Scott Fankhouser has to offer, "I'm excited to be back in Fort Wayne this season to see what the team will accomplish with Scott behind the bench" said Smith.
The Feds are honored to welcome back Jordan Smith (Smitty) for his final year in Junior hockey!
