STEELHAWKS’ BUSHEY WINS ACH TRAINER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR ...
Date: Mar 15, 2017
Hamilton and Dundas met for the first time in 2017 following the holiday break on Friday night in ACH action at the JL Grightmire Arena. Kevin Rebelo would pick up a hat trick while Mitch McCrank scored a goal and added an assist. However, on this night, the Real McCoys would score eight times to defeat the Steelhawks 8-5.
While the Steelhawks tried to get their legs back in the first period Dundas scored four times, two of which were on the power play, to take a 4-0 lead to the dressing room. Hamilton would get their first power play of the game late in the first, which carried over to the second period.
Hamilton came out looking like a different team in the second and took advantage of the penalty, scoring 68-seconds into the period. Rebelo picked up the goal from Jordan Gignac and Josh McQuade to cut into the Real McCoys lead. Rebelo would pick up his second of the game with a slap shot in the slot to cut the Dundas lead in half. Picking up the assists on the play were Jamie Williams and McCrank. However, the Real McCoys would score at the 10:35 and 16:58 mark of the middle stanza to regain their four-goal lead.
In the third Hamilton picked up goals from Kyle McQuade and McCrank eight seconds apart before the halfway mark of the period to make it a two-goal game. Rebelo would then complete the hat trick when his shot went off the post and off a defender’s skate into the McCoys net. However, Dundas added two late goals to take the game 8-5.
The Steelhawks will look to get back in the win column on Saturday night when they host the Thorold Athletics at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena starting at 7:30 PM.
