Hamilton hit the road for the first time this season, visiting the Whitby Dunlops in ACH action on Saturday evening.  Jonathan Ornelas scored twice for Hamilton while Josh McQuade added a goal and an assist in the loss.

Kyle McQuade got the Steelhawks on the board just shy of the six-minute mark of the opening period before David Victor tied the game for Whitby on a power play goal.  Steve Gizzo and Kevin Rebelo each netted a goal in the first on backhands to put Hamilton up 3-1.

The Steelhawks kept their foot on the pedal, taking a three-goal lead just 57-seconds into the middle stanza when Jordan Gignac found Ornelas with a backdoor pass and he potted it into the yawning cage.  Whitby would then explode for four goals over the second half of the period and tie the game at five.

The teams would trade goals in the third but a late goal by Whitby gave them the win.

Mitch McCrank left the game part way through the third period after taking a check to the head and hit the boards hard.  There is no update on his injury at this time.

The Steelhawks next game will be on Friday night when they travel to Dundas to the face the Real McCoys at the J.L. Grightmire Arena starting at 7:30pm.  The next night Hamilton will host the Thorold Athletics at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena also starting at 7:30pm.
