Gulls Look to Ride High Into All-Star Break

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Newport Gulls enter another pivotal stretch atop the Southern Division with a 20-11 record, holding a one-game lead over the Bristol Blues as the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) season enters its late stages.

Newport begins the week at Cardines Field on Monday, July 14th, hosting the Mystic Schooners. Monday is Summer Camp Scholarship Night, with the first 250 fans receiving free Newport Gulls hats.

The Gulls hit the road on Tuesday, July 15th, for their final matchup of the season with the Valley Blue Sox. The season series is tied 2-2, with Newport looking to rebound after letting a 5-1 lead slip away the last time the teams met at Cardines. First pitch in Holyoke is at 6:30 p.m.

The Gulls return home on Wednesday, July 16th, for game five of the Pell Bridge Series against the Ocean State Waves. The home team has won each of the first four meetings, and Newport will look to bounce back from a 15-4 defeat on Saturday, July 12. Wednesday is SEACORP Military Appreciation Night, with free admission for all military personnel.

After an off day Thursday, Newport heads to Groton on Friday, July 18th, for a rematch with the Mystic Schooners at Fitch High School. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. The contest marks Newport’s final game before the All-Star break.

The Gulls will be well represented at the 2025 NECBL All-Star Game, sending eight players—including four starters—and manager Mike Coombs to White River Junction, Vermont, on Sunday, July 20th First pitch at Maxfield Sports Complex is scheduled for 5:10 p.m.

All home games at Cardines Field begin at 6:35 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Tuesday’s matchup at Valley and the All-Star Game will also be broadcast on ESPN+.

With the division lead on the line and the All-Star break approaching, this week offers fans plenty of chances to see the Newport Gulls in action as they continue their pursuit of another NECBL title.
