Four Nighthawks To All-Star Team

White River Junction, Vt. — The NECBL announced the all-star rosters for the 2025 All-Star Game, hosted at Maxfield Sports Complex on Sunday July 20th. The hosting Nighthawks nabbed four roster spots for the North Division, headlined by outfielder Cole Fellows, who will start. AJ Brotz, Aaron Porter, and Nick Shuhet were also named to the roster as reserves. “The guys that got in I think are deserving of this honor, and we also have some alternates that I also think are deserving as well. I think it’s a great event for the league and I want them to have fun,” said Nighthawks Manager, Mat Pause.

Cole Fellows has been nothing short of spectacular in his return to the Nighthawks. The now two-time all-star is boasting a league’s 4th-best .348 batting average with thirty one hits, and sixteen runs batted in. Through June, he was batting a league best .400, one of the best starts to a season. He was the first Nighthawk to hit a home run on the 2025 campaign, a 352 foot home run at Alumni Field early in the season which gave way to the power the Nighthawks can show at times.

AJ Brotz has been a solid piece not only in the infield, but also in the outfield as needed. The Marist product boasts the most at-bats on the team with 106. Those at-bats have him among the top 5 team batting averages with .274, just shy of the top 25 in the league. A team second best twenty-nine hits, fourth best thirteen runs batted in, alongside the team’s best 9 stolen bases, AJ’s production on offense alongside his three turned double plays defensively, he nabs the second base reserve spot for the North.

A delayed start-of-season activation on June 3rd, the Rider Bronco has been a valuable piece of the team at the designated hitter spot and behind the plate. He boasts the Nighthawks’ 2nd best batting average with .299 and tied for the fifth most runs batted in with ten. Through sixty-seven at-bats, Shuhet has twenty hits, and two sacrifice flies, the second-most on the team behind Anthony Greco. A powerful bat and consistent addition into the lineup, Shuhet will certainly have something to add to the North’s talented roster.

Aaron Potter is the only Nighthawks arm to make the North rotation, but the numbers back up his impact. The Georgia-Gwinnett Grizzly has six total appearances with two of them being starts. In those six appearances, he has two wins and one loss with a 3.54 earned run average.  He boats a K/BB of 19/10 and has only allowed eight earned runs.

Mateo Wells, Nick Monile, Anthony Greco and Ryan Preisano were named as alternates, one of which will possibly be voted in by you, the fans. Starting tomorrow, fans can vote on their team’s player to have the final spot in the all-star game, via Instagram. Voting closes at 11:59 PM Thursday. “It’s great that fans can have a say on who they want in the game. Gives the guys in the league some notoriety,” said Pause on the new fan-voting system.
