Date:  Source: Lorain County Ironmen

After taking a look at the pitching staff for the Ironmen’s 2017 season last week, it is now time to take a look at who will be in the field for Lorain County this year.

The Ironmen have signed two catchers to work behind the dish for the team this season.

Joe Scott Pace is the first catcher on the roster for the Ironmen. Joe is currently a Sophomore at perennial division II powerhouse, Angelo State University. The 6 foot tall catcher from Brady, Texas declared as a redshirt a year ago in his freshmen campaign.

As a sophomore, he is hitting .167 in 12 at bats on the year. He has struck out five times and has walked six times. Joe has been perfect behind the plate for the Rams as he has not made in error on the season and has 30 putouts.

In the 11 games that Joe has played in this season, his team has won 10 of those games.

The second catcher on the roster for the Ironmen is Jake Carpenter. Carpenter is a junior at Notre Dame College and has served as the starting catcher for the Falcons during the 2017 season.

In 31 starts, Carpenter has a batting average of .207 with two homeruns and 16 runs batted in. Carpenter has been solid defensively behind the plate as he has a fielding percentage of .950 on the season and has committed seven errors.

The Kenston high school product is in his first season with the Falcons after transferring in from John A. Logan College.
