Ironmen get second straight shutout win

The Lorain County Ironmen won the ninth game of the season in style as they shutout the Grand Lake Mariners, 7-0. 

After a 4-0 win over the Hamilton Joes on Saturday, the Ironmen pitching staff did not skip a beat as Noah Skladan and Canyon McWIlliams combined to through the second straight shutout win for the Ironmen.

Lorain County got on the board in the third inning as Chase Knodle and Nick Novak led the inning off with back to back singles. Antonio Bennett promplty brought them home on a double down the left field line. 

Rick Phillips brought home Bennett on a ground out to make it 3-0 Lorain County. 

The Ironmen tacked on four runs in the sixth inning as they put the Mariners into a deep hole. 

Grand Lake never got settled in against Skladan who went six innings and did not allow a run on four hits while striking out four. 

He handed the ball over to Canyon McWilliams who came on and dominated the final three innings to earn the save. McWilliams went three innings  and allowed two hits while striking out seven. 

Lorain County is now 9-18 on the year and will play tomorrow at home against the Mariners.
