Ironmen lose to Lima to end season

The first pitch for the 2017 Lorain County Ironmen’s season is just 42 days away and that means that it is time to check out some of the players that will be suiting up for the Ironmen this summer. We will start with the guys who will be making that first pitch as we take a look at some of the pitchers who will be on the mound for the Ironmen.
Mark Mittiga
Mark Mattiga is a Redshirt Junior from Walsh University. The 6-1 right handed pitcher grew up in Green, Ohio and was a standout at Walsh Jesuit High School.
Mattiga has excelled this season for the Cavaliers as he has made seven starts and has a 4-2 record with an ERA of 3.57. The right hander has pitched 35.1 innings which is second on the team and has helped to lead Walsh to a 27-13 overall record and a 16-8 conference record this season.
His best outing of the spring came on Mar. 29 against Malone when he went six scoreless innings and allowed just three hits while striking out three.
The righty has given up just 14 earned runs on the season and has struck out 22 batters.
Mattiga is the only player on the Ironmen’s roster from Walsh this season.
Justin Liserio
Justin Liserio is a right-handed pitcher from Elyria, Ohio. He attended Lorain High School where he earned four varsity letters in baseball and was twice selected as a member of the all district team.
Out of high school, Liserio decided to attend Heidelberg University where he is currently majoring in health and human performance.
So far in his freshmen season, Liserio has appeared in three games including one start. He has thrown three innings and given up seven earned runs on nine hits and has an ERA of 21.00.
The 6-foot righty has also walked four and struck out 2
Josh Armbruster
Josh Armbruster is a 6-4 right handed pitcher for Notre Dame College where he will be a Senior in the fall. He is from Broadview Heights and attended Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.
Armbruster was a three year letterman in highschool and has found success at the collegiate level as well.
In 2016, Armbruster earned All-MEC honorable mention after he was tied for the team lead in wins with seven on the year. He finished his sophomore year with a record of 7-3 and an ERA of 5.50 in 14 starts.
As a Junior in 2017, Armbruster is 1-7 with a 6.39 ERA as of April 22. He has thrown 56.1 innings and has struck out 45.
He is coming off of his best start of the season on April 22 against Wheeling Jesuit where he went seven innings and gave up just one earned run.
Pat Carlozzi
Pat Carlozzi grew up in Poland, Ohio and attended Poland Seminary High school where he earned the 2014 conference player of the year.
Carlozzi is now a Junior at Ashland University. The 6-1 right-hander has been used primarily out of the bullpen for the Eagles in his first few seasons.
As a sophomore in 2016, Carlozzi had a 3-2 record with one save and an ERA of 5.40.
In his junior year, the righty has appeared in 10 games, six of which he has started.
He has a 1-3 record and has logged 27.1 innings on the season and has a 7.57 ERA.
Carter Semancik
Carter Semancik is a right-handed pitcher out of Aurora High school. He is currently a sophomore at John Carroll University.
As a freshman Semancik threw eight innings and finished with an ERA of 2.25 in limited appearances.
In his sophomore campaign, Semancik has made 13 appearances and has a 0-1 record. He has a 5.64 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched.
He has walked seven men and struck out 24.
Crea Watkins
Crea Watkins is in his junior year at St. Bonaventure University. 2017 was the right-handers first season with the Bonnies after transferring from Lincoln University.
In 2016 at Lincoln, Watkins compiled 13.1 innings of work in 12 appearances. He did not factor in to a decision on the season but struck out 11 batters. He had an ERA of 5.40.
Tony Iero
The Lorain County Ironmen are excited to welcome Tony Iero to the team this summer.
Iero, a Redshirt Freshmen at Ohio University is a left-handed pitcher who will be looking to get some action this summer on the mound.
Iero graduated from North Canton Hoover High School in 2015 and headed to Athens to major in Business Economics. The 6-3 lefty had tremendous success in high school garnering two varsity letters in baseball and three more in basketball.
He redshirted in his freshmen campaign.
Trevor Ray
Trevor Ray is currently a Junior at Ohio Wesleyan University. The 6-0 left-hander grew up in Strongsville, Ohio and attended Walsh Jesuit University.
In his junior season, Ray is 1-1 with an ERA of 9.82.
In 11 innings pitched he has given up 12 earned runs on 25 hits. He has also walked one and struck out six.
Noah Skladan
Noah Skladan is a 6-2 left handed pitcher at Mount Union University. He is currently a junior and graduated in 2014 from Amherst Steele High school as a three time letter winner.
In his first two years he had a record of 3-2 in 61 .1 innings pitched. He has taken a more predominant roll in 2017 as one of the better starters on the team.
In 10 starts he has thrown 53.2 innings and has a 4-2 record with a low ERA of just 2.85. He has walked 23 and struck out 36.
Tyler Gault
Tyler Gault is currently a freshmen at Notre Dame College and has quickly adjusted to the college game after graduating from Rittman High School in 2016.
The 6-4 right hander is off to a blazing start in his career as he boasts a 5-2 record with a steller 3.79 ERA. He leads the Falcons in innings pitched with 61.2 innings pitched and has thrown five complete games.
Gault has walked 14 batters and has struck out 24. Opponents are hitting .275 against Gault this season.
Canyon McWilliams
Canyon McWilliams is currently a freshmen left-handed pitcher at Florida Southern College. McWilliams is a graduate of Shaker Heights high school.
McWilliams has not appeared in a varsity game at Florida Southern in his freshmen season, but he was 3-4 with a 3.65 ERA as a senior at Shaker Heights.
