Borges Has Huge Performance with Team Canada

Date:  Source: Ontario Prospects

18U Ontario Prospect pitcher Nathan Borges (Brooklin, ON) has recently returned home from another stint with the Canadian Junior National Team. The team recently attended the Dominican Republic for their annual tour of the Dominican Summer League, facing prospect teams on the island that are affiliated with different Major League organizations, including the Toronto Blue Jays.

Borges appeared in two games over the week of May 23-30. His first was a two-inning relief outing against Minnesota Twins prospects. Taking over for the starting pitcher, he got out of a jam with runners on. Overall he allowed one hit over two innings while striking out a pair in a game in which the Canadians lost 10-5.

Borges' second outing a few days later was a start against a Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate, where he and two Canadian pitchers combined on a 11-0 shutout. He was incredibly efficient, throwing only 64 pitches and getting credit with the win, breezing through six innings of work.

He is now back home, rejoining the Ontario Prospects rotation into the summer!
