John Gosnell finished his second season with the NCAA D3 Lesley College Lynx in Massachusetts. Earlier this month the sophomore from Toronto was named to the Second All-Conference Team. He hit .311 in regular season play, leading the team in walks (12) along with six doubles, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
Russell McGibbon, a middle infielder by trade from Pickering, played an assortment of positions on the diamond this year in order to keep his bat in the lineup. In his freshman season with Niagara College in New York, he swung to the tune of .438 with a .500 on-base percentage. He tied for the team lead with 15 extra-base hits and was second with 38 RBIs. Niagara won their regional playoff recently and McGibbon was named the Region III tournament MVP! The team's potent lineup now embarks to Tyler, Texas for the NJCAA D3 championship!
Not much more can be said around the NCAA Division 1 circuit about Ryan Kellogg. The Arizona Sun Devil freshman was recently a semi-finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, awarded to the top player in college baseball. The left-hander from Whitby finished regular season play with an unbelievable 10-0 record and a 3.11 earned run average, striking out 50 hitters over nearly 90 innings pitched.
Congratulations to these Ontario Prospects alumni as we continue to wish them the best along their college paths.
