Even though the weather is cold here our Ontario Prospects 16U & 18U team members are anxiously awaiting the warm weather of Florida.  For a second straight year the Prospects will travel south to St. Petersburg/Clearwater to attend their annual Spring Training Event during the week of March 8th - 17th. Both teams are working extremely hard in preparation for the trip where they will play 8 games, have 5 practice sessions including 2 private college showcase workouts. The first showcase will be held at beautiful NCAA Div 2 Eckerd College where coach Mathews will work the teams out, take them on a private tour of his facilities and talk about what he looks for in a player for his program. Next showcase will be with head coach, Ryan Beckman at the NJCAA Div 1 powerhouse St. Petersburg College. Coach Beckman will provide similar arrangements with a private tour, workout and discussion about playing at the next level. Games and practices will be held at the beautiful Walter Fuller Complex (former spring training home of the Tampa Bay Rays) and will also get a few games in at the historic Al Lang Stadium in downtown St. Petersburg. Until they leave on March 8th the teams will continue to work hard with their 5 hrs per week team training and the private instructional lessons they receive from the OP staff and Homerun Baseball Academy.
