16U Prospects Brawl in the Fall Finalists

Date:  Source: Ontario Prospects

The Ontario Prospects 16U team travelled to Farmington Hills, MI to play in the Wolves Brawl in the Fall Tournament Oct 19-21st. The team finished the round robin portion as the # 1 seed going into the playoff rounds Sunday. They started Sunday morning out with a semi-final game, 3-0 win over the Eastern Expos. The championship game was all about quality pitching on both sides, some timely defense and unfortunately for the Prospects a missed opportunity. In the 5th inning the Prospects had runners on 2nd & 3rd with only 1 out and trailing 1-0 at that point. Unable to get that clutch hit to score the Howell Hawks eventually went on to win 2-0. This would be the only good chance OP had as the lefty for Howell threw a complete game and was dominating fanning 9 OP batters. Losing pitcher for OP was Tristan Wilcocks who threw a solid 5 innings, allowing only 1 earned run on 2 hits and striking out 5. As a fall wrap up the 16U coaching staff were very proud of the team's performance and looking forward to a full off-season of training and a great 2013 year. Head coach, Mark Dainty, was quoted as saying "if this is any indication of what the upcoming year has in store I am very excited."
