Borges Joins JNT in Orlando, FL

Date:  Source: Ontario Prospects

17 year old, Nathan Borges, has been a member of the Ontario Prospects Baseball Program since age 11 under the tutelage and guidance of former MLB players Rob & Rich Butler. Nathan flew out on Thursday Oct 4th to travel to Peoria, Arizona to attend one of the largest scouted baseball weeks in the nation, The Arizona Senior Fall Classic. While sitting at Toronto Pearson International Airport awaiting his flight to Arizona, Nathan notices sitting near him are current Toronto Blue Jay members Brett Lawrie and Brandon Morrow. Nathan strikes up a conversation and gets talking baseball with both Lawrie and Morrow. They all flew into Phoenix and when departing Lawrie gave Nathan a big hug, wished him luck and said "say hi to Greg Hamilton for me" (Canadian National Team Director). Why Greg Hamilton??? That's because on Thursday Oct 11th Borges will depart from Arizona but before returning home will first visit the beautiful Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida where he will be joining the Canadian Junior National Team (JNT) for their annual trip to Disney. Hamilton has been watching and following Borges for almost a year now and decided this was the right time for Nathan to join the team and made a call last month inviting him to attend the Disney trip. Nathan is a 5'10" right hand pitcher with a fast ball reaching 87mph and his curve ball has been compared as a average BIG Leaguers breaking ball already. Over the past 3 years Nathan has been working very closely with his Prospects pitching coach, Chris Kemlo who was not at all surprised by the announcement of Borges joining the JNT. " We knew that Greg has been keeping a close eye on Nate and why not? His breaking ball is just nasty and his arm action is effortless and the ball just jumps out his hand. Nathan has really benefited from being in the Prospects program at such a young age as his throwing mechanics are flawless".
