Blues get shutout vs Keene in low scoring affair

Date:  Source: NECBL: Bristol Blues Baseball

The Bristol Blues fell to the Keene Swamp Bats by a score of 2-0 Saturday night at Alumni Field.

Runs came at a premium in this one. After four scoreless innings TJ Schuyler (U of Indiana) got Keene on the board with a solo home run to make it a 1-0 game. The Schuyler homer was the only run allowed by Nate McMahon, (Wofford) who went six innings and had yet another dominant outing and now has a 1.50 ERA on the season across 24 innings pitched.

Schuyler provided the Swamp Bats with some insurance in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to make it 2-0 Keene.

The trio of Ben Rabitn, (Kent State) Andrew Lepine (Stetson) and Todd Kniebbe (Florida Atlantic) combined for a complete game shutout while only allowing four hits, six walks and picking up eight strikeouts.

Bristol is now 16-10 on the season and 2.5 games behind the Newport Gulls for first place in the South division. Keene improves to a league best 18-8 and holds a commanding six game lead in the north division.

The Blues will continue their road trip as they take on the Vermont Mountaineers Monday night, and try to get back in the win column.
