SANFORD, Maine– The NECBL announced today that Brendan Sencaj (Bentley) has been named the league's player of the week, and Sam Mitchell (Alabama) was tabbed as the pitcher of the week. This is the first time this summer that a Mainer has taken home either award.
Brendan Sencaj is coming off of his best week of the summer. The Plainville, Mass. native collected ten hits and seven RBI’s. His week was highlighted by a three-homer game at Keene on July 3. Sencaj had multiple hit performances in three games within the week as well.
Sam Mitchell has been dominant in relief this summer, particularly this past week, in which the Mainers won three consecutive games going into the Sunday off-day. The Alabama native made three appearances and was credited with a win, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings, while allowing just two hits and striking out seven.
The Mainers return to the diamond for a full slate of games this week, as they look to continue to make up ground in the North division
