NATIONAL PREP SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Toronto, Ontario.  September 07, 2012. - “In consideration of the probable Ontario Teachers strike and potential loss of the 2012-2013 high school basketball season, the National Prep School Athletic Association (NPSAA) has made a decision to offer an “open registration” to facilitate the participation of more teams.  The NPSAA is a governing body that provides league administration and insurance coverage to teams, players and coaches.

The National Prep School Athletic Association represents the best basketball talent in Canada that has remained in Canada to play for Canadian programs.  The NPSAA for years has provided competition for high quality programs such as PHASE 1 Academy in Toronto, Ontario; which Wayne Dawkins has trained top athletes such as Andrew Nicholson, the first round draft pick of the Orlando Magic.

With the creation of the National Prep School Athletic Association Prep Basketball League, serious Canadian athletes are now able to stay home and receive the opportunities that U.S. prep schools offer.  Talented Canadian ballplayers aspiring to become post-secondary student athletes now have the chance to receive the training, exposure, and competition necessary to be prepared for the next level – all while remaining in Canada.  The NPSAA Prep School League features member organizations and affiliate organizations located in throughout North America, who’s intention is to provide aspiring student athletes quality education along with an extensive basketball pedigree.

All Games for the 2012-2013 regular season will consist of Round Robin match up events and head to head competition.  With powerhouse U.S. prep programs such as Huntington Prep (WV) and Oak Hill Academy (VA) on the schedule, the NPSAA is a league deemed to host top quality competition.

The NPSAA currently have the following tournament schedules that will be hosted in Toronto, Ontario.  The NPSAA Pre Season Ranking Tournament will be held October 17-19, 2012, The Christmas Showcase Will be held December 28-30, 2012, The NPSAA Championship will be held March 1-3, 2013 hosted by Bill Crothers School in Unionville, Ontario; which is normally filled with the best NPSAA schools and a selective list of private prep schools from the United States.  Teams will also compete in U.S. showcase events and tournaments on weekends; the exposure to college recruiters is so prevalent.  No longer will talented young athletes be forced into leaving the country to better their chances of attaining the post secondary goals.

NPSAA in association with Planet Athlete announced today they would bring a Showcase entitled the North American Post Grad Championship.  This will be held January 31^st thru February 3, 2013 in Providence, Rhode Island, and will pit U.S. Post Grad Programs vs. Canadian Programs, virtually pitting the NPGAC vs. NPSAA for a North American Champion.  Eight NPGAC schools will compete head to head against eight NPSAA schools for four straight days with the winner being the school with the most wins in the end.

Eric Bowman, President of Planet Athlete, Inc. said when you bring this sort of talented coaching, training and development together in one organization, and now in one gym, and one competition to determine who is the best in North America, there surely will be a line of college coaches from around the country standing in line to see the raw talent of players from these teams who all want to go home with the “Gold, the Glory, and the Bragging Rights”.

The USA vs. Canada Tournament will be held during the same weekend of the National Prep School Invitational Showcase, which is also in Providence, Rhode Island.  The National Prep Invitational Showcase will feature again some of the top NEPSAC schools along with a sprinkle of prep programs from across the USA.  Eric Bowman stated that the combination of both of these events in Providence will create the 2^nd best college recruiting weekends this season, and serve as a bonanza for college coaches who again will receive the best bang for their recruitment buck, an opportunity to see over 32 of the top prep/post grad teams in North America, while evaluation over 480 student Athletes.  Plus next year the NPGAC and NPSAA will introduce a brand new women’s Post Grad Conference, and IMG Academy in Sarasota, Florida who currently has the only women’s post grad program is coming aboard and joining the other 7 new teams for one elite conference for women’s basketball.

NPSAA and Planet Athlete NPGAC will operate under one umbrella and united will become the sole Organization for Post Grad Sports in North America.

The National Prep School Athletic Association League is entering it’s 3^rd year after 2 successful years in Canada.  The inaugural season hosted 4 teams from around the GTA.  This past year the league jumped to 14, including teams from North Carolina and Montreal, Quebec.  For this 2012-2013 season, the League will feature the top programs in Canada, featuring athletes that are heavily recruited by top schools in the U.S. and Canada.
