PLANET ATHLETE NATIONAL POST GRAD SHOWCASE
Phoenix, Arizona. October 16, 2012. — Planet Athlete, Inc. announces the lineup for its National Post Grad Showcase, which will be held from November 15-18, 2012 at the Boys and Girls Club of New Haven. Planet Athlete has put together an outstanding lineup of Post Grad Teams, and has positioned this Showcase as the best Post Grad Basketball Event in the United States. Planet Athlete has invited 29 of the Best Post Grad Teams in the United States and Canada to compete in the Pre-Season Tip-Off – Ranking Showcase in front of over 100 college coaches.
Planet Athlete announced earlier this year that it will be going to New England this Season in an effort to bridge relationships with the NEPSAC, the New England Prep School Athletic Conference. In an effort to unify the two bodies that control basketball and athletic life after high school, and before college.
The National Post Grad Showcase will be held the same weekend as the annual National Prep School Showcase, which features the best Prep Schools in New England. The Prep School Showcase is located only 7 minutes away from the Post Grad Showcase, and the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven has arranged for a free shuttle service for college coaches and scouts between the two sites. The two gyms are within 7 minutes of each, and the free shuttle will drop off and pick up coaches and scouts every 30 minutes. The Prep School Showcase normally has 16 Prep Schools primarily (NEPSAC schools) competing, and historically has over 100 college coaches in attendance. Planet Athlete via its National Post Grad Athletic Conference will bring another 29 teams to New Haven to compete in its Showcase. Eric Bowman, President of Planet Athlete stated this this will be the Number One Recruiting Weekend in the United States for College Coaches. With over 600 of the finest athletes in North America showcasing their talents what college coach or scout would not want to be here.
Eric Bowman stated that the National Post Grad Showcase will help to determine Opening Week Rankings for the National Post Grad Athletic Conference (NPGAC), and to keep the rankings as honest as possible Planet Athlete has enlisted the Scouting Services of Chad Groth, Founder and President of Area Codes Basketball Services (Phoenix, Vegas, & San Diego), and Bret Swanson, Founder and President of JUCO Junction to scout, and rank the NPGAC Teams and Players. Additionally, an MVP for each team winners and loser will also be selected, and receive an award. The Showcase will select an All-Showcase MVP, and an All-Showcase 1st & 2nd Team. All NPGAC teams that participated in the Showcase will be ranked after the Showcase is completed. Planet Athlete’s only goal is to assist the student athletes with obtaining an athletic scholarship to a college and/or university based upon the skill level that they may have. In light of this fact Planet Athlete is providing Coaches Packets containing information on every player and every team free of charge to every college coach or scouting service that preregisters by emailing ebowman@planetathlete.org .
Planet Athlete, Inc., which founded the National Post Grad Athletic Conference (“NPGAC”) in 2010 as the official conference for elite Post Grad Basketball Programs to operate under one umbrella, united with its Canadian sister organization, the National Prep School Athletic Association (“NPSAA”) to become the sole Organization in North America for Post Grad Basketball Programs and Schools. Post Grad or Prep School, as it is commonly referred as, is a year of study between your high school graduation and your college admittance. Players from around the world participate in this year of skill development, academic enrichment, and exposure. Players who may be academically prepared, and eligible for an NCAA Scholarship, may not be ready physically, athletically, and/or have the maturity level to play on the NCAA level, and feel that a year of high level basketball skill development, and competition will provide them with the needed confidence to play at the next level. Additionally, the player will gain unbelievable exposure to college coaches and scouts from all over the USA. Players who need another year for academic reasons, or SAT and ACT review and testing, will also find the year rewarding as they work towards increasing their test scores, skill development, and increasing their recruiting opportunities by playing against top level talent from across the USA and Canada.
Eric Bowman, ended the interview, by stating that he is extremely pleased to be able to bring an event of such magnitude to the City of New Haven, and its basketball loving community, and that he is extremely proud of his new partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven, and that Tharon Mayes has been incredibly instrumental in making this happen. He thanks all the staff of the Club, along with the Board for allowing Planet Athlete to present such an event at their Club, and that he has offered the services of his 20 member basketball team and staff to assist the Club in other opportunities such as mentoring, academic tutoring, and training and developing the young kids of New Haven for future careers in basketball. Additionally, Mr. Bowman is working with Mr. Mayes to present a seminar at some point during the weekend on how the NCAA 2016 Academic Eligibility Standards affect New Haven’s incoming Freshman Students ability to garner an athletic scholarship in any sport.
