Homeruns Propel Captains To 3-1 Series Lead

The Highview Skyhawks have done a fantastic job in limiting the powerful Captains offense in the first two games of the NWBL Championship. Unfortunately for the Skyhawks, Capalbo's bats finally came alive in the next two games as the Captains took a 3-1 series lead.

In Game 3, the Captains got to business early, plating six runs in the top of the first. Coral blasted three homeruns in the first inning as the Captains took a commanding 6-0 lead.

In the second, Coral roped another solo blast, his fourth of the game, and Plateroti added a homerun as the Captains increased their lead to 8-0.

Casey Hanley added a solo homerun in the bottom of the second, but that was the only offense the Skyhawks produced.

Two more runs in the third gave Capalbo a 10-1 lead. Vinny Plateroti earned the victory as Casey Hanley took the loss. The Captains take a 2-1 series lead.

Game 4 proved to be a bit closer of a game, but the Captains prevailed 5-1, taking a 3-1 series lead. Like Game 2, Ant Peluso and Steve Coral got the starts for their respective teams.

In the top of the first, Vinny Plateroti gave the Captains a 1-0 lead off a solo homerun. Another solo homerun by Plateroti in the fifth gave Capalbo a 2-0 lead.

Ant Peluso walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth to cut Captains' lead to just one run. A two run homerun by Plateroti and a solo homerun by Coral in the bottom of the fifth gave the Captains a 5-1 lead and the victory.

The Captains now sit one win shy of their second consecutive NWBL Championship. With another victory, Capalbo can become just the second NWBL team to win back-to-back titles and the third team to win multiple titles.
