Capalbo Captains Win NWBL Championship

Date:  Source: National Wiffleball League

For the second straight season, the Capalbo Captains are NWBL Champions. In a statement issued from the NWBL, the Capalbo Captains have been named winners of the 2012 NWBL Champions after a scheduling problem shortened the originally scheduled best-of-seven series to a best-of-five. The Captains held a three games to one lead, and were subsequenetly named champions.

While it may not be the ending everyone wanted, it was the ending that was right. This year's championship was still as exciting as any of the previous ones. It was techincally the closest NWBL series in the history of NWBL Championships. Unfortunately, the collaspe of the Highview Skyhawks led to Capalbo's three straight victories.

The Skyhawks took an early 1-0 lead in the series after a 4-1 victory to open the series. The Captains came right back in Game 2 with a 2-0 win, tying the series up at one. Capalbo would use a big 10-1 win in Game 3 to take a series lead. Eventually, the series-clinching win ended up being a 5-1 Captain victory in Game 4.

Steve Coral was named the Series MVP, with two wins on the mound and outstanding offensive numbers, including four homeruns in Game 3.
