NWLA Tournament: Round 3
Date: Oct 17, 2012
Ian Hanley has been named Cy Young for a record third straight season. On Thursday, the National Wiffleball League named Ian Hanley the NWBL East Division Cy Young winner. Votes from NWLA members, the Commissioner, managers and players all determined that Hanley was the best pitcher in the East Division.
Hanley finished the season 11-3 with a 1.60 ERA and 44 strikeouts. His eleven victories ranked second in the division and his 1.60 ERA was the best in the NWBL.
He becomes the first pitcher to win three consecutive Cy Young awards. Hanley also ties Matt Herrmann for most career Cy Young awards with three (Herrmann won in 2002, 2007, and 2009).
Since joining the Lackawanna Rapids, Hanley has compiled a 42-12 record with 168 strikeouts and a 1.57 ERA. In his previous seasons, Hanley stands at 28-29 with 288 strikeouts and a 4.05 ERA.
He has won the Cy Young award in all three of his seasons on the Rapids.
