QUINCY -- The Quincy Gems couldn't muster any offense on Tuesday night, collecting just four hits in a 4-0 loss to the Kokomo Jackrabbits in a Prospect League game at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
The Gems are 20-24 overall and 2-11 in the second half. They are averaging 3 runs per game in their 11 losses in the second half, and they have scored two runs or less six times.
Kokomo (22-21, 7-6) scored the game's first run in the second, then added another run in the third.
Quincy starter Aaron Stone pitched the first six innings, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out four.
Quincy's best chance to score was in the fifth inning. Deion Thompson hit a leadoff double, but he was thrown out trying to advance to third base.
Kokomo scored its final two runs in the eighth inning off reliever Glenford Sanchez.
Frankie Perrone, Trey Mathis and Chandler Purcell had singles for the rest of Quincy's offense. Kokomo starter Nick Floyd allowed three hits and struck out nine in seven innings.
