Victor Garcia went 1-3 and hit a home run, helping the Springfield Sliders (22-14) to a 4-3 victory over the Quincy Gems (19-19) on Thursday at Robin Roberts Field.

Josh Peterson pitched lights out for the Springfield Sliders. Peterson held the Quincy Gems hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Dean Nevarez reached base two times in the game for the Quincy Gems. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the third inning.

Scott Gorsuch couldn't get it done on the hill for the Quincy Gems, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed one run.
