Connecticut tried its best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Rhode Island Rams would not be denied the victory and won, 5-3.

A goal by Monica Darby put Rhode Island University of up 5-1 in the third period, but Connecticut pulled to within two on Juliana Bailly-simao's tally 13:16 into the third period.

 

The Rams managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Rhode Island wound up below its season average of 5.0 penalty minutes per game. Connecticut was unable to stop the Rams from sending pucks towards the net, and Rhode Island eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Rams were helped by freshman Samantha Evans, who tallied her first collegiate goal. Evans scored 15:22 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Rhode Island. Senior tri-captain Sydney Collins assisted on the tally. Rhode Island also had goals scored by Caitlin McGuirl and Alisha Difilippo, who scored one goal each. Rhode Island also got points from Collins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Rhode Island came via Michelle Monet, who had two, Jacquelyn Keable, who had three, and Kristen Levesque and Brenna Callahan, who each chipped in one.

Connecticut did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force nine saves.

Connecticut was helped by Cailin Catarina, who had one goal and one assist. Catarina scored 3:37 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Rhode Island University of. Bailly-simao picked up the assist. Connecticut additionally got points from Bailly-simao, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kristine Aikins also scored for Connecticut.

Abigail Torres, played the first half of the game and five saves before being replaced by Bucior who took the win and made four saves. Rhode Island University of registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Connecticut Rebecca Rubinstein stopped 29 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
