Rams Travel Back to Michigan for 3 Game Series
Date: Nov 16, 2021
The University of Rhode Island Rams went on the road this past Saturday to take on the University of Connecticut Huskies. URI was able to skate away with a 7-3 victory behind 2 goals each from Audrey Rowen and Carissa Rego. Also chipping in with goals were Emma Hill, Serena Batacchi, and Logan Bruns. For Rowen and Batacchi, the goals were the first of their collegiate careers.
In net, the Rams split the game between their 3 goalies. Senior Janelle Kelleher started the game, before freshmen Maddie Ashenfelter and Amelia Lambert came in for the final 2 periods. Combined the 3 turned away 32 of 35 shots. For Ashenfelter and Lambert, the game marked their first game experience at the collegiate level.
Special teams also played a big role in the win, as the power play went 2 for 3 and the penalty kill turned away 5 of the 6 UConn opportunities.
URI will now return to Boss Arena for a Sunday morning game against the University of Utah on 10/17.
