Rams Travel Back to Michigan for 3 Game Series

The University of Rhode Island Rams suffered their first defeat of the season on Friday night at home against Salve Regina University, 6-1. After a closely contested first period that saw the Rams down 1-0, captain Maleah Gillette would tie the game early in the second with a shot from the point. Juniors Sara Abrahamson and Carissa Rego would add assists on the play. From there, however, Salve would add 2 goals in the second and 3 in the third to close out the game.
The 2 teams would play again on Saturday afternoon, with Salve once again coming out on top 5-0. The score was 2-0 late into the third period before Salve added a few goals on the power play. Janelle Kelleher played both games in net, making 98 saves combined over the 2 nights.
URI looks to regroup this coming weekend with 3 big Division 1 games. Friday and Saturday they will be on the road against Davenport University before finishing the weekend Sunday with a game against Aquinas College.
