Rams Travel Back to Michigan for 3 Game Series

The URI Rams traveled to Grand Rapids this past weekend for 3 games against ACHA Division 1 opponents. On Friday and Saturday, the Rams took on Davenport University before finishing the weekend with a game against Aquinas College on Sunday. URI would finish the weekend with a 1-1-1 record.
Friday's game would see a great effort from Rhode Island. They would outshoot DU 69-22 on the night, but couldn't solve the Panthers goalie. The final would be a 4-1 loss for URI. The lone goal came from senior Emma Hill, with Carissa Rego and Abbi Sampson assisting on the goal. Janelle Kelleher played the game in goal.
Saturday's game would see the result swing in Rhode Island's favor. Maleah Gillette, Meagan Wentworth and Abbi Sampson would score on the night resulting in a 3-2 victory. Adding assists on the night were Lindsey Anderson and Serena Batacchi. Wentworth's goal was the first of her college career. The final shots were once again slanted in URI's favor, ending at 48-21 on the night. Amelia Lambert would get her first start of her career in net, stopping 19 of the 21 shots she faced, including a few breakaways.
The final game of the weekend was a defensive showdown with Aquinas College on Sunday. The Rams would take a tough overtime loss, with a final score of 1-0. URI hit 2 posts in OT, but couldn't get one across the line. Janelle Kelleher was back in net for the game, ending the night with 39 saves on 40 shots.
After a long trip back home, URI will host Assumption College on Friday night and then the East Coast Wizards on Saturday afternoon. Puck drop at the Boss Ice Arena is 7 pm and 4 pm, respectively.
