Great Falls uses early goal to top Point Mallard, 2-0

Lucas Stover scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Great Falls Americans held off the challenges of the Point Mallard Ducks in a tough 2-0 win.

Great Falls took over the lead for good with a goal by Stover at 15:55 in the first period. Connor Barta picked up the assist.

The Americans were led by Stover, who finished with one goal.

Great Falls also got a goal from Lucas Lomax as well. In addition, Great Falls received assists from Zack Mese, Reed Link, and Brendan Jester, who each chipped in one.

Point Mallard stifled Great Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ducks were held below their usual level of production. Point Mallard puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game.

Evan Hauser recorded 24 saves for the Americans. Great Falls incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Ducks' Cooper Seedott stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Point Mallard incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
