The game between the Southern Tier Xpress and Glacier was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Southern Tier emerged with a 6-4 win.
The Xpress gained the winning advantage on a goal by Tim Weisgerber 13:47 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.
Glacier's power play was ineffective against Southern Tier's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.
The Xpress forced Glacier goalie Ryan Lund to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Southern Tier surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Xpress average 3.7 goals per game. Southern Tier had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances. The defensemen of the Xpress were also effective in Glacier's zone, and came away with three goals. Southern Tier could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.
The Xpress were led by Justin Andriaccio, who had two goals. Andriaccio scored the first of his two goals short handed at 16:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Southern Tier found itself down a man on Cody Maulsby's unsportsmanlike conduct. Andriaccio's next tally short handed made the score 4-3 Southern Tier with 16:19 left in the third period. The Xpress had taken the advantage when Glacier's Wyatt Fretheim got sent off for tripping. Maulsby assisted on the tally. Southern Tier also got points from Tobias Gabrielsen, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Southern Tier included Brandon Desrosiers and Brian Grant, who each put in one. More assists for Southern Tier came via Luke Sunde, who had one and Elijah Williams, who had two.
Glacier's goal total was higher than its season average. Glacier has scored at the pace of 1.9 goal per game during the current campaign. Glacier's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Glacier finished with 66 penalty minutes.
Glacier was helped by Karson Frisk, who tallied two goals. Frisk scored the first of his two goals at 18:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Glacier. Tyler Unekis provided the assist. Frisk's next tally made the score 3-1 Glacier with 14:49 left in the second period. Unekis picked up the assist. Glacier also had goals scored by Matt Gamblin and Prokofil Vladykoskiy, who scored one goal each. In addition, Glacier received assists from Tyler McMahon, who had one.
Tyler Geloneck made seven saves before being replaced by Brendan Shuck, who took the win and made 10 saves. For Southern Tier, Williams was ejected from the game. Lund rejected 41 shots on goal for Glacier. Team's Frisk and Unekis were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
