Point Mallard holds on for 4-2 win against Twin City

The Point Mallard Ducks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Twin City Steel on the way to a 4-2 win.

Point Mallard made the score 4-0 on a goal by Josh Hamilton at 11:13 in the second period, and Twin City got as close as 4-2 when Russel Barone scored 15:20 into the third period.

Jake Cox had two goals to lead the Ducks to victory. Cox found the back of the net on the power play 6:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Point Mallard and again while 9:49 into the second to make the score 3-0 Point Mallard.

Point Mallard forced Steel's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 38 shots and forcing 34 saves. Parker Butler made 20 stops and Darien Jones made 14. The Ducks capitalized on the Steel's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

Point Mallard also got points from Jake Champaign, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Point Mallard came via Justin Provencher, who had two and Noah Gilreath, Brad Reitter, Stephen Coulter, Grant Dukus, and Jaleel Rosemond, who contributed one each.

Twin City forced Point Mallard goalie Cooper Seedott to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Twin City also got a goal from Mikko Aho as well. In addition, Twin City received assists from Mathias Ahman, David Becker, Jon Plaszcz, and Jay Paul, who each chipped in one.

The Ducks' Seedott stopped 41 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Point Mallard incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Steel incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
