Mathias Ahman grabbed one point to lead the Twin City Steel to a 4-1 victory over the Gillette Wild.
Twin City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Steel forced Gillette goalie Alex Feese to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.
Twin City also got points from Tristan Mayer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Twin City also had goals scored by Kyle Wagner and David Becker, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Lance Carney, who had two and Alex Egle, Jon Plaszcz, and Chris Skordilis, who each chipped in one.
The Wild were held below their usual level of production. Gillette averages 4.0 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on the Wild, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.
Robbie Goor made 19 saves for Twin City on 20 shots. The Steel incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Feese rejected 29 shots on goal for Gillette. The Wild incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
