Great Falls shrugs off penalties, upends Minnesota, 3-1

The Minnesota Flying Aces failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Great Falls Americans shook off a number of penalties to win, 3-1.

Great Falls was sparked by Lucas Lomax, who finished with one goal. Lomax scored on the power play 16:05 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Great Falls. Wade Wylie picked up the assist.

The Americans excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Great Falls could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Great Falls also had goals scored by Reed Link and Cody Page, who each put in one. More assists for Great Falls came via Michal Kliment, Lucas Stover, and Miles Giorgione, who each chipped in one.

Minnesota was led by Jake Mullendore, who scored the team's only goal. Mullendore scored 11:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnesota. AJ Gullickson provided the assist.

Lauren Massie made 20 saves for the Americans on 21 shots. Great Falls registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Flying Aces' Kevin OShea stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Minnesota incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
