Week 4: Players of the Week
Date: Feb 15, 2014

Powered by a free flowing offense, Team Montenegro got their second win of the season in a 52 to 39 win over the Rainmakers. Sead Odzic of Montenegro scored 17, while CSL veteran sharpshooter Dominck Lopez led all scorers with 18 in a losing effort.
For the second straight game, the Rainmakers struggled to shoot it from the field. The offense wasn’t an deciding fact in Week One, as Rain flashed some excellent defense to hold Access One to 29 points. But without the services of ace perimeter defenders Eugene Granosky, Larry Li and Lindz Fleming, this week the Rain defensive was not as tight.
Sammy Pekovic paced Montenegro early. He scored 4 of Montenegro’s first 5 baskets and ended 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ramo Vulic playing through foul trouble added 10.
Yet, this game was much more competitive than the 13 point deficit would suggest. Sead Odzic drilled three straight threes on three straight possessions to give Montenegro a double digit lead midway through the 2nd half. However, Rain stayed tough and got the game within three on an excellent basket, plus foul by Bazel Sledziewski. He ended the game with 10 and 7.
But in the end, Montenegro pulled away late on the power of some excellent half court sets. It was like death by a million backcuts. Rainmakers on the other hand struggled to get there offense working. They got some good looks via Dominck Lopez clearouts, but only netting 6 assists in the game was telling.
