BOX SCORE

The 1st half of the battle between the CSL’s only two undefeated teams produced just about everything one could ask for. The mistakes were low, the competition level was high, and the score was close. But the second half was just another beast as Team These Guys cruised to a 73-52 victory.

Monte led for most of the 1st half and went into the break only down a few buckets. But with just one sub on the bench, Monte just couldn’t maintain the effort needed to keep up with high flying These Guys. These Guys high energy, trapping style that produced a number of Monte turnovers. As the game wore on, nearly every Monte miss turned into outlets and layup, or dunk if you are Aaron Weaver.

Mike Cole filled up the scoreboard again with an efficient 18 points. Big scoring nights isn’t new for Cole, as the CSL 3rd leading score, but his efficiency remains elite. Of the top ten scorers in the CSL, only one his teammate Chris Shalvoy averages less shots. In Wednesday’s game he only took 7 shots from the field and hit all 8 of his free throws.

If Montenegro were going to match These Guys athleticism and conditioning coming from behind in the 2nd, they would have to do it from the three point line. However, Monte struggled from shooting a disappointing 9/29 for the game.

Sead Odzic lead Monte with 20 points and 4 assists, including 4 of the Monte’s 9 threes. Despite the loss, Monte though can go into their bye week with the second best record in the league, after facing three of  four best teams in the league. These Guys on the other hand are making an undefeated season look like a distinct possibility.
