Week 4: Players of the Week
Date: Feb 15, 2014

In their last game against These Guys, the Nightmares were victims of an opponents’ hot start that build an insurmountable lead. On Wednesday, the Nightmares proved to be excellent students. They beat Rainmakers 56-42 on the strength of a similarly hot start, starting the game on a sterling 15-0 and 24-3 run.
The Rainmakers were able to stabilize the game after going down early, but lead was too large. The game never turned out to be very pretty. After hitting shot after shot, the Nightmares came down to earth. They ended up shooting below 40%. The Rainmakers did not fare much better, shooting 30%.
But, if your looking to ask why the Nightmares were able to start so quickly, look no further than Quinton Childs. His numbers weren’t overwhelming, 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals, but the box score doesn’t have a slot for energy. Nearly every steal, every offensive board, every closeout made a giant impact and set the tone for the Nightmare win. He eletrified the Nightmares and set the tone for their win.
For the third straight game, the Rainmakers did not get the result they hoped for. They continued to struggle with rotations and minutes. But, they did get some help off the bench from CSL newcomer Ricky Starks, who scored a team high13. Starks combined with Jefrey Boykin and Lindz Fleming to give the Rainmakers a long and rangy defensive look that stopped the early bleeding.
In the victory, Jimmy Sepulveda continued his strong offensive performance with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. John Bennett didn’t have the greatest offensive performance, but was excellent defensively and on the boards in the victory.
