Week 4: Players of the Week
Date: Feb 15, 2014

For the first 15 minutes of the CSL opener , it looked like the battle between These Guys Again and Just the Tip would be a highly competitive nail biter. But the combination of an NBA-sized court and only one player on the bench eventually caught up with Tip. They only trailed by 12 at the break, but a number of sizable These Guys runs in the 2nd half ballooned the lead to 34 at its highest Thepoint.
Mike Cole and Chris Shalvoy (pictured) had a big hand in the win. For Cole, it was a different CSL team, but the same result. Cole flirted with a triple double in the first half and ended up with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, 5 assists. Shalvoy, on the other hand did most of his damage from deep, scoring 22, 18 of points from behind the arc.
Tip was lead by point guard Paul Evans, who filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, 7 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals. Post man Drew DeMaris was also productive, scoring 9 points and 7 rebounds.
The game also featured a battle between two of the CSL tallest players, Terry Sanders of Guys and Tip’s Dean Ramino. Sanders scored an efficient 12 points on only 7 shots while 6-5 Ramino faced a bit more defensive pressure and put up 10.
In the end, the score was deceiving. Tip likely left upwards of 20 points on the table via missed layups. They only shot 17% from the line and 14% from three. With the talent they have, that performance is unlikely to continue. As for These Guys, the rest of the CSL has been put on notice, bring your A game, when facing off against These Guys, or else.
