Questions about the CSL....

Date:  Source: Chicago Stats League_legacy

I'm interested in the CSL, give me the basics.

  • We're the Chicago Stats League, a company that provides the best basketball leagues in the city of Chicago. Our leagues start with providing high quality refs at a great gym, but also feature full-stat tracking for every game, player, and team. Individual player profiles, players of the game, post-season awards are also featured.
  • Our next league starts January 22nd at Quest Mutlisport, home of the NBA Pre-Draft Camp. You can sign up today on the website.

When does signup end?

  • Registration closes officially on January 15th. However, since we cap the amount of teams that play in the league, the league could be filled before that day. Do remember though, you can put down a deposit and hold your spot in the league any time!

Who plays in your leagues?

  • Adults that tend to be pretty decent at basketball. it's not a pro league, but guys tend to know their way around a basketballball court. Many played in high school ball and/or we're active in intramurals in college. Many still play regularly.

I want to play, but I don't have a team.

  • Don't worry, you don't need to have a whole team to play in the CSL. Individuals can sign up for our free agent squad, compromised of individuals paired together. Last year, our free agent team was pretty competitive, earning a 3 seed in the CSL playoffs.

I've heard enough, the CSL is the greatest of all time, how can I register?

  • You can register here on our secured website using any major credit card. If you'd prefer to pay by cash or check, please e-mail Mitch at chicagostatsleague@gmail.com.

If I'm signing up a full team, do I have to pay the entire fee at once?

  • You have two options for paying for a team. You can pay the league fee all at once. Or you can put down a deposit to immediately hold your team's space in the league. The balance of the team fee is payable on January 15th, one week before the season's start.

Where are the CSL's games played at?

  • CSL games are played at Quest Multisport, formerly Attack Athletics. Quest is the current home of the NBA Pre-draft Combine and quite frankly, this gym features some of the best rims and floors in the city. You simply can't compare Quest to most the park disticts, high schools, and churches that other leagues play in around Chicago.

Where the heck did this league come from?

  • Ever since I graduated from college, I played in tons of leagues around the city. The leagues were alright, but pretty similar. Get a t-shirt, get a few games, wash and repeat. None of the leagues stood out. Many of the leagues featured shotty refereeing, or bad gyms, or poor admistration. And after about 10 years, I decided it wasn't going to get any better. So I decided to do things myself.
  • Our company is dedicated to the proposition that you can put together a league at a simliar price to the competition that offers more. So get ready for a league website that tracks the league like ESPN would track the NBA, Individual player profiles, experienced refs, professional management, and a ton of other extras.

What time are the games played and long does the league run?

  • Games are played once a week on Wednesday nights. Games are played at 7PM, 8PM, 9PM, 10PM, depending on the schedule. The schedule will be released a few days before the season. The regular season lasts for seven weeks, plus the post-season.

I'm coming from the burbs, can you make sure we get the late game

  • We will do all that we can to adjust the schedule to make sure teams play their preference of playing early, or playing late.

What stats do you guys track?

  • We track points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, 3 pointers, free throws, shooting percentages, and minutes, plus team stats.

Tell me a little about the referring?

  • Listen, it is no surprise that the biggest problem with most adult recreational leagues is that the reffing is pretty subpar. One of the major focuses of the CSL is making sure your games are being called with refs that are both IHSA certified and experienced and knowledgable of the game, understand flow, and call a consistant game. We can't guarantee you'll get every call, but we can guarantee an improved experienced from most leagues.

Is there a CSL fantasy league?

  • No. But there should be. But we do release lines for every game. So there's that. But remember that gambling is totally illegal in the United States.

I played in the league last year, what's new?

  • We're adding a ton of new features:
    • Each Monday, we're releasing "The Hookup", a breakdown of all the numbers you need to get you prepped for next CSL matchup.
    • Each Friday, we're adding Team Power rankings to the site.
    • We're adding end of year individual awards. Complete for the MVP, Sixth Man of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year

What about team sponsorships? Can you point me in right direction

  • Many Chicagoland bars sponsor sports teams, but we strongly suggest you go with the good people Standard Bar on Milwaukee Avenue.
  • Here's why Standard is awesome.
    • they have a billion TV's
    • they have ample parking
    • the food is awesome
    • they will give you cash to cover some of you league fees
  • Go there after your games, the UFC, Blackhawks, Bulls, football and everything in between.

Speaking of rules, what rules do you use?

  • We play with high school rules with a few exceptions: the number of fouls each player can pick up, overtime rules, etc.

I have more questions, who should I talk to?

  • Shoot Mitch and e-mail at chicagostatsleague@gmail.com.
