The shaky defense continued for the Wildcats as they dropped their third straight game, this time a 10-1 contest to Madeira. In the 7 inning contest, the Wildcats committed another 5 errors, allowing 4 unearned runs to cross the plate.

Cameron Bartsch, making his 3rd start of the season, only allowed 3 hits but walked 4 in his four innings of work. In those four innings, he gave up 7 runs, with only 4 of them being earned. Luke Steimle came on in relief and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) in his three innings of work.

The Mustangs scored 2 quick runs in the first and it would be all Jake Anfinsen needed. The senior right hander threw the second consecutive complete game against the Wildcats, striking out 11 and scattering 5 hits. Throwing exclusively from the stretch, Anfinsen threw a remarkable 70 out of 95 pitches for strikes. He kept hitters off balance with a two pitch combination of fastballs and curveballs.

The Wildcats lone run came in the 3rd inning when Byron Famble grounded out to short, scoring Adam Schwegman, who had reached earlier on a single. Michael Whitt also singled in the inning for his second hit of the day as he has now reached base safely in every game but one during the 2015 season. The senior is among the lead leaders in batting average, on base percentage, as well as ERA in the pitching statistics.

The loss dropped the Wildcats into last place in the CHL with a 1-5 record. The season continues with a Friday night matchup against Indian Hill, the second leading team in the conference.
