For the second straight day, the Wildcats run ruled their opponent in a decisive 12-1 victory; this time over the Winton Woods Warriors. Luke Steimle led the way, throwing a complete game on the mound and going 3 for 4 with two RBI's at the plate. Freshman BJ Ward added 3 RBI's as well as his first career hit.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first inning when Joey Gerbus led off the game with a walk. Michael Whitt followed by reaching on an error and advancing to second on the same play, moving Gerbus to third. Byron Famble followed with a single up the middle, scoring Gerbus and Whitt and giving the Wildcats a lead they would build on the rest of the game. In the same inning, Austin Cahill followed back to back singles by Steimle and Cameron Bartsch with an RBI groundout. Ward, making his first career start, followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Steimle from third and giving the Wildcats a 4-0 lead.

In the top of the second, the Wildcats continued their hot hitting when Adam Schwegman and Gerbus started the inning off with back to back singles. Michael Whitt followed with his first double of the season, scoring Schwegman from second. After a hit by pitch, Steimle singled to right field, scoring Gerbus and Whitt. Two batters later, BJ Ward recorded his first varsity hit on a hard ground ball single up the middle. The single also scored Steimle and Cameron Bartsch, pushing the lead to 10-0.

The Wildcats tacked on two more runs in the top of the third to give them their largest lead of the season at 12-0. Meanwhile, Steimle overmatched the Winton Woods hitters with his combination of sinkers and big breaking curveballs. In his five innings of work, he struck out 10 batters and didn't walk anyone, marking the first time this season that the Wildcats didn't allow a free pass on the mound. The only run the Warriors were able to put up was unearned as Steimle kept his 0.00 ERA on the season in tact.

Thursday afternoon was an encore for the Wildcats as once again eight out of the nine starters in the lineup recorded at least one hit. Senior Julian Sorrells, one of the unsung leaders of the team, also joined the hit parade in his only plate appearance of the day with a single up the middle. He joined Ward as the two Wildcats both recorded their first varsity hits. The Wildcats continue conference play as they take on the Mariemont Warriors in the second game of the two game series. Sophomore Austin Cahill will make his second start on the mound with first pitch at 4:30.
