BRANTFORD – Cody Mombourquette scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Brantford Red Sox a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Friday night.
The best-of-seven quarter-final is tied 1-1.
Mombourquette singled to start the inning and went to third on Benjamin Bostick's single. He scored the winning run on an 0-1 passed ball.
Bostick and Chris Dennis each had two hits and an RBI. Andris Rizquez and Ricky Murray both singled and doubled.
Stefan Strecker (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless inning. He struck out two. Starter Jamie Richmond allowed a run on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts over five innings.
Justin Marra and Grant Tamane each had two hits and an RBI for the Leafs.
Marek Deska (0-1) gave up an unearned run on two hits in the 10th inning to take the loss. Trevor Caughey started and went nine innings, allowing two runs on 10 hits with 12 strikeouts.
