Leafs beat Brantford to end losing streak

BRANTFORD – With two losing streaks on the line, the Toronto Maple Leafs ended theirs with a 2-0 win over the Brantford Red Sox Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

Toronto had dropped 10 straight before the victory, as the Leafs improved to 14-18.

Connor Lewis had the lone RBI. Zac Orchard and Aaron Hornostaj scored the Leafs' runs.

Justin Cicatello (3-1) went eight innings, scattering seven hits while walking two and striking out five.

Dustin Richardson struck out the side for his second save.

Ricky Murray had two hits for the Red Sox (10-19), who have lost seven straight. Anthony Rizquez and Andris Rizquez each had a hit and stolen base.

Euclides Leyer (1-6) took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits with a walk and eight strikeouts over 7.1 innings.
