TORONTO – Ryan Spataro doubled in both the tying and winning runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally the Barrie Baycats past the Toronto Maple Leafs, 13-10, in Intercounty Baseball League action Wednesday night at Christie Pits.

The Leafs (5-4) had broken a 9-9 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning to grab the lead when Jon Solazzo, with his sixth RBI of the night, doubled in Greg Carrington off winning Barrie reliever Cole White.

Barrie (7-0) trailed 4-0 after the first inning thanks to a grand slam by Solazzo. The Baycats trailed 9-3 after four innings before scoring twice in the fifth inning and four times in the sixth inning off Toronto starter Zach Sloan and losing pitcher, in relief, Pedro De Los Santos to tie it up.

Solazzo finished the night with a home run, double, sacrifice fly and walk in five plate appearances.

Kyle DeGrace, Jeff Colson and Spataro each drove in a pair of runs for Barrie.
