Maple Leafs Announce Postseason Schedule

TORONTO – It took 18 innings for the Toronto Maple Leafs to beat the Brantford Red Sox 8-7 Sunday afternoon at Christie Pits.
Tied 7-7 heading into the bottom half of the 18th, Grant Tamane led off with a double and advanced to third on a flyout. Adam Odd hit a ground ball to Brantford second baseman Benjamin Bostick, but the ball slipped out of Bostick's hand as he tried to throw home, which allowed Tamane to score the winning run.
For Toronto (1-1), Tyler Hardie hit a solo home run as part of a three-hit game. Justin Marra and Connor Lewis each had two RBI, while Brendan Keys had two hits, an RBI and run. Tamane and Ryan White had two hits and one run apiece.
The Leafs led 7-5 after a five-run seventh inning but allowed two runs in the ninth to send the game to extra innings.
Odd (1-0) picked up the win in relief, scattering three hits over three scoreless innings with a walk and two strikeouts. Justin Cicatello started and went five innings, allowing five runs (three earned) with a walk and two strikeouts.
For Brantford (0-2), Ricky Murray had three hits, including a bases-loaded double in the five-run sixth.
Nic Burdett had two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Bostick and Nate DeSouza each had a pair of hits.
Cody Mombourquette (0-1) gave up an unearned run in 5.1 innings of relief. He yielded two hits and struck out a batter without issuing a walk.
Matt Martinow started and went six innings, giving up two runs on five hits with a strikeout.
