Sanford Mainers vs. North Adams SteepleCats - Game One
Final Score/7: Sanford 9, North Adams 8
Sanford, ME – The Sanford Mainers took game one of the doubleheader against the visiting North Adams SteepleCats. Behind a 15-hit performance, the Mainers took the game 9-8.
The Mainers started the scoring off in the bottom of the first inning. Domenico Tozzi (Coastal Carolina) strutted up to the plate and launched a solo home run to bring home the run.
The SteepleCats took the lead in the top of the second with a JT Thompson (Rutgers New Brunswick) two-RBI single. They added to their lead later in the inning when Cuyler Baxter (Wake Forrest) singled to bring home a run. However, the Mainers took the lead right back in the bottom of the second. Charlie Jones (Georgia) came home on a wild pitch to score the first run. Zack Kent (SUNY Binghamton) added another run with an RBI single. Tozzi added one more to make the lead 4-3. Jones added another RBI to the stat sheet in the bottom of the third. Brendan Sencaj (Bentley) added a second run with an RBI single later in the third inning.
The SteepleCats tied the game in the following inning. The scoring started with a Baxter RBI single. Michael Toth (UMass Amherst) walked home to bring in the second run, and then Matthew Lussier (Fairfield) came home on a sacrifice fly.
North Adams took the lead in the top of the sixth inning. Nolan DeAndrade (Franklin Pierce) singled to bring in a run. Nelphie Lopez (Stetson) added a second run with an RBI single to cap off the sixth. The Mainers tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with another Jones RBI single.
The Mainers walked it off in the bottom of the seventh with a Blake Schaaf (Wake Forest) RBI single.
Mainers pitcher Drew Smith (UConn) was credited with the win while his counterpart, Thomas Sullivan (Franklin Pierce), was issued the loss.

Sanford Mainers vs. North Adams SteepleCats - Game Two
Final Score/7: North Adams 7, Sanford 4
Sanford, ME - The North Adams SteepleCats took game two of the doubleheader against the Sanford Mainers 7-4 behind a seven-run fourth inning.
The Mainers jumped out to an early lead, starting the scoring off in the bottom of the first inning. Domenico Tozzi (Coastal Carolina) started the scoring off with an RBI single to left field. Blake Schaaf (Wake Forest) came home to score on a wild pitch, and then Brennan Hudson (Georgia) added two more with a single to right field.
The SteepleCats came back to take the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Owen Arias (Central Connecticut State) started off the inning with a two-RBI double. The scoring continued with a Michael Toth (UMass Amherst) run. Later in the inning, Gabriel Natividad (Winthrop) drove in two runs with a double, and Nelphie Lopez (Stetson) added the final two runs to end the massive inning.
The North Adams SteepleCats pitcher Thomas Sullivan (Franklin Pierce) was given a win on the season while his counterpart, Mainers pitcher Joshua Kopetski (Rhode Island) was credited with a loss on the season. North Adams Pitcher Owen Crow (Mt. St. Mary’s) was given a save on the season.
The Sanford Mainers are back in action Thursday night as they travel south to face the Keene SwampBats. The North Adams SteepleCats return to the baseball diamond Thursday night as they get set to face the Valley Blue Sox.

Valley Blue Sox vs Upper Valley Nighthawks
Final Score: Upper Valley 10, Valley 7
Hartford, VT – The Upper Valley Nighthawks took down the Valley Blue Sox on Wednesday evening by a score of 10-7. Upper Valley trailed early, but some consistent offensive production propelled them to their 10th win of the season.
Valley got on the board in the top of the second to kick off the scoring. After a walk by Gavin Schrader (Troy) and a double from Nicholas Spaventa (UPenn), Michael Elko (Richmond) and Rees Kozar (Niagara) took turns with RBI groundouts, making it 2-0. The Blue Sox scored two more runs in the third; both RBI singles from Sebastian Mexico (Louisiana Tech) and Spaventa.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Nighthawks got on the board. With the bases loaded, Jack Spanier (Minnesota) drew a walk, and Cole Fellows (Columbia) followed right behind him when he was hit by a pitch. Upper Valley had cut the deficit in half, but Valley responded right away in the sixth. A single followed by an error scored Kozar from first base, and Mexico came in clutch with his second RBI hit of the game, this one a double center, which made it 6-2.
Upper Valley rallied in the bottom of the sixth to score four runs, tying the game up at 6-6. A bases-loaded walk to Nick Monile (North Florida) started the scoring. After that, Anthony Brotz (Marist) singled to score two, and Fellows gathered another RBI when he drew a walk.
RBI hits by Cooper Blauser (Jacksonville State) and Brotz gave Upper Valley an 8-6 lead, which they would add two more in the eighth off a Valley error as insurance. The Blue Sox scored one more run in the eighth off a Michael O’Conor (Eastern Illinois) RBI single, and the final would be 10-7 Nighthawks.
Steven Mazza (Marist) got the win for Upper Valley, tossing two innings of one-run ball, while his teammate Mateo Wells (High Point) got the save. Jack Potteiger (Eastern Illinois) will take home the loss for Valley, allowing three runs in 1.2 innings. The Nighthawks will host the Vermont Mountaineers on Friday evening, while the Blue Sox will host the North Adams Steeplecats on Thursday night.
Vermont Mountaineers vs Keene SwampBats
Final Score: Keene 16, Vermont 4
Montpelier, VT – The Keene SwampBats used an early offensive outburst, headlined by a six-run second inning, to topple the Vermont Mountaineers Wednesday night by a score of 16-4. With the win, Keene improves to 17-6 on the season.
Jack Herring (East Carolina) started the game off for Keene with a single, and the next batter, Ripken Reese (Kent State), hit his fourth home run of the season to make it 2-0. In the second inning, the SwampBats practically put the game away, erupting for six runs.
Four straight hits to start the inning from Ty Mainolfi (Boston College), Aiden Harris (Virginia), TJ Schuyler (Indiana), and Andrew Bell (Duke) added two of those runs. Herring hit a sac-fly to score another, Reese ripped a two-run shot (second of the game), and Xavier Perez (Houston) followed it up with a home run himself, going back-to-back. By the time the inning was done, the SwampBats had a commanding 8-0 lead.
Vermont responded with a Foster Apple (Stetson) RBI single that scored Braeden Smith (Charleston), but Keene kept pouring it on in the third inning with three more runs. A Herring RBI single and a Reese two-RBI triple put this game in the SwampBats’ favor 11-1.
Keene added five more runs in this game in RBI hits from Nicholas Romano (FAU) and Herring. Herring and Reese combined for seven of Keene’s 18 hits and notched 12 RBIs out of the team’s 16 runs scored. As for Vermont, Conlan Daniel (Wright State) scored on a sac-fly in the third, Sam Gates (George Washington) scored on a fielder’s choice in the seventh, and David Alvarez (Northwest Florida State) drove in a run with a single to center in the ninth.
Ultimately, Keene ran away with this one early, winning 16-4. Kian Vorster (Louisville) got the win for Keene for his two innings of shutout relief, while Ethan Nowak (UMass Boston) got the loss, allowing six runs in just 1.1 innings. Vermont will look to rebound on Friday when they travel to play the Upper Valley Nighthawks. Keene will try to keep things going on Thursday when they host the Sanford Mainers.
