NECBL Announces 2025 Home Run Derby Participants

Date:  Source: New England Collegiate Baseball League

North Adams, MA — The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) announces the participants representing teams across the league in the 2025 NECBL Home Run Derby that is set to take place on Sunday, July 20th at 2:40 pm at the Maxfield Sports Complex in Hartford, Vermont, as hosted by the Upper Valley Nighthawks.

The NECBL is excited to announce the participants for the 2025 Home Run Derby!

Beginning at 2:40 pm this Sunday, NECBL fans will see 12 of the league’s top power bats come together for the opening event for an exciting day of All-Star festivities at the Maxfield Sports Complex.

There will be 12 participants this year, as every organization, minus Mystic, will send a representative. The 12 players will all battle it out in the first round, with each having three minutes to hit as many home runs as possible. The two players with the most home runs will advance to the championship round, where each player will have four minutes to hit. These two players will also receive a timeout in the championship round, which can be used anywhere within the four minutes. The player with the most home runs, not including the scores from round one, will be crowned the winner.

Here are the 2025 NECBL Home Run Derby participants:

Trevor Hansen (Bristol, 3B/1B, Manhattan) - Despite hitting just .191 on the season, Hansen possesses a ton of power and is a home run threat each time he steps up to bat. Chances are, if he puts the ball in play, he will do damage, as seven of his 13 hits are extra-base knocks, including five home runs.

Glenn Green (Danbury, P, Memphis) - Green is certainly the wild card of this event. Primarily a pitcher, the righty has just three plate appearances this season, including a walk and a strikeout. However, don’t be fooled by the stats. Green was recruited as a two-way player, as he led his squad in batting in his junior year of high school.

Ripken Reese (Keene, C, Kent State) - Reese has been a major part in Keene’s success this season, as he’s hit five bombs while anchoring the defense behind the plate.

Will Lybrook (Martha’s Vineyard, C, Harvard) - Lybrook only hit one homer this past year with the Crimson, and has also only one blast in the NECBL this season. Yet, his 6’4”, 225-pound frame is more than capable of making noise in the derby.

Matt Bolton (Newport, OF, Binghamton) - Bolton is currently tied for first in the league with the most home runs this season (6), and stands alone with 28 RBIs to lead all of the NECBL. The Levittown, New York native is a player to watch out for this year in the derby.

Aukai (Jaydon) Kea (North Shore, C, Vanderbilt) - The North Shore Navigators don’t necessarily hold a lot of power, as they have just hit four home runs as a team this season. Yet, Kea is their guy as he’s been rock solid behind the plate this year. Kea looks to unleash the power that has yet to come out for the Navigators.

Brandon DeGoti (Ocean State, SS, Miami) - DeGoti’s got everything. The speed, contact, and fielding are all there, but most importantly, he’s got the power. Batting .299 this season, DeGoti’s hit three triples along with two bombs, bringing an impressive resume to this year’s home run derby.

Brennan Hudson (Sanford, 1B/C, Georgia) - Hudson started the season off rocky, striking out 15 times in the first seven games while only going yard once. Since then, Hudson has hit five home runs, including a blast in a 13-3 drubbing of the Keene SwampBats, where he also recorded six RBIs.

Nick Shuhet (Upper Valley, C, Rider) - Shuhet’s been primarily a contact guy this season, as he’s got one homer and three doubles as four of his 22 hits. Yet, his 6’1”, 210-pound frame is certainly capable of doing damage at the derby.

Nick Spaventa (Valley, 1B/3B, Pennsylvania) - Spaventa has four homers on the season, including two during an impressive nine-game hitting streak.

Jaylen Hernandez (Vermont, 1B, Winthrop) - Although Vermont has been struggling this year, Hernandez has been a bright spot. The left-handed hitter is batting an impressive .341, racking up 30 hits including six doubles and four homers. Hernandez was also named the NECBL Player of the Week in week four.

The 2025 NECBL Home Run Derby will be available to view free of charge on NECBL+ to kickoff the day in Vermont at 2:40 pm. The NECBL All-Star Game will follow at 5 pm on ESPN+.
